Spring/ Summer 2013 Color Trend #1: Black and White: As natural as that may sound, the basic colors in the color wheel, black and white are still there. Designers can hardly ever stop expressing their admiration towards these refined shades, which make the base of every wardrobe and flatter every single person. In the new season, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta, Burberry Prorsum, Gian Franco Ferre and many others expressed their love for the tenderness and purity of the white color, bringing head to toe white looks and, of course, transparent white dresses. On the other hand, Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, Celine, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and other big names tried to capture the elegance and refined allure of the black, picturing women in total black outfits. Some other designers, however, brought the harmonious union of these two shades, among them being Chloe, Moschino, Victoria Beckham and Rachel Zoe.

Like green, blue also comes in a myriad of variations, from eclectic Monaco blue, purple-blue and dusk blue to dark cyan, turquoise and pastel dusty blue. Herve Leger, Chanel, Giorgio Armani and Gucci opted for the Monaco blue, rich in color, while Prada tried to highlight the depth and beauty of purple-blue. On the other hand, Versace and Rachel Zoe opted for dark cyan and sky blue reminiscent of the sea. Peter Som and Elie Saab brought the trend of the dusk blue, Oscar de la Renta – the trend of turquoise, while the pastel obsession of dusty blue still reigns in the new season thanks to Rachel Zoe and Blumarine.

Indeed, the designers bring various shades of pink, one of which is saturated pink, as spotted at Gucci, for instance. Another trendy pink shade is the American pink, which resembles a bouquet of fragrant roses. This tone was displayed in the spring shows of Valentino and Elie Saab. Oscar de la Renta brought the fragile color of salmon pink, while one of the biggest Pantone colors, linen pink, was present at Reem Acra, Alexis Mabille and Chloe.
